Salem High School Students To Compete For Mr. Salem Title

(SALEM) - Salem High School students will compete for the title of Mr. Salem, an event that mimics the Miss America pageant.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on December 4 at the middle school auditorium.

Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 the night of the contest, and $10 for VIP seating.

Tickets are available at the high school, Cooley's Heating & Air, Farm Bureau Insurance, The Salem Leader office and Lincks. VIP tickets are only available at the high school.

Assistant Principal Jerry Hickey says there are eight entries in the contest, with two boys participating together, making nine contestants.

Those competing for the Title of Mr. Salem are:

* Kody Kramer and Andrew Maudlin, as a group entry

* Kade Roach

* Noah Pastor

* Logan Thompson

* Davon Gant

* Zac Ray

* Wade LaHue

* Zack Turner

Hickey is hoping to raise about $3,000 for the girls' basketball program.

The contestants will do a choreographed dance routine, compete in a casual wear portion, where they will wear an outfit that defines who they are, a three minute talent performance, an evening wear portion, where contestants will come out in tuxes with escorts and answer a question.

Three judges will evaluate the men's talents. Participants can add to their score by collecting donations.

During a short intermission, where the high school choir will perform, votes will be tallied and then a Mr. Salem crowned.
