(WASHINGTON) - A two-year-old boy was killed and three members of his family were injured Tuesday morning when their van was hit by a semi at the intersection of US 50 and State Road 257 in Washington.

According to a Daviess County Sheriff's Department report, 42-year-old Patrick Kingrey of Aurora, Missouri was driving his semi westbound on US 50 when he ran a red light at State Road 257.

Kingrey's semi struck a van driven by 32-year-old Meiam Briggeman, of Washington.

The impact of the collision pushed the van into the median.

Two-year-old Noah Briggeman was airlifted to a Bloomington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Meriam Briggeman was taken to Daviess Community Hospital with internal injuries.

Other passengers, 27-year-old Christopher Briggeman and 5-year-old Eli Briggeman were taken to Daviess Community Hospital. Christopher was treated and released. No condition was available on Eli.

Authorities say seat belts and child restraints were in use at the time and that the side impact airbags in the van deployed.

Kingrey was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way.
