Mitchell Football Coach John Edge Tenders Resignation

Last updated on Friday, November 1, 2013

(MITCHELL) - The Blue Jackets head football coach is hanging up his cleats after three years. John Edge tendered his resignation Wednesday and is expected it to make it official at the next school board meeting.

Edge, who is in his second year as the athletic director, simply felt stepping away from his football duties was the best for all involved at this time.

Edge is hoping someone can step in and turn around what was a 1-9 season. This will also allow the board to have time to find someone so players can still have a good off-season and summer program.

But even with a losing season Edge says "our kids played their hearts out and never quit."

Edge was quick to thank the community, the fans, parents and the administration at Mitchell for giving him the opportunity to coach.
