Master Trooper Mark Clephane Recognized For 25-Years Service

(BLOOMINGTON) - Master Trooper Mark Clephane was recognized in a ceremony in Indianapolis for achieving 25 years of service with the Indiana State Police.

Clephane graduated from the 46th recruit class on November 13th, 1988. For reaching this milestone, he received an award from Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter that consisted of a framed certificate and a longevity pin to be worn on the uniform.

Clephane grew up in Morgan County and graduated from Southport High School in 1985. Clephane then served in the United States Air Force from 1985-1988 where he was a member of the Elite Guard, a Personal Protection Detail for high ranking officers. He was Honorably Discharged in 1988 to begin his career with the Indiana State Police.

Upon his graduation from the Indiana State Police Academy, Clephane was assigned to the Bloomington Post where he served as a road trooper until 1994. Master Trooper Clephane then served as a Detective, Detective Sergeant and the District Investigative Commander for the Criminal Investigation Division at the Bloomington Post before his current position as Master Trooper, primarily assigned to Monroe County.

During his career Clephane has served on the Tactical Intervention Platoon (Riot Squad) and served as a Hostage Crisis Negotiator

M/Trp. Clephane graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ball State University in 1995 and has completed work towards his Master's Degree. He also attended the Northwestern University Traffic Institute School of Police Staff and Command and graduated with the top academic GPA in the class.

Clephane has three children, Rachelle Kinnaman of Whiteland, Kirstin and Ryan Clephane, of Bedford and nine grandchildren.

Clephane has resided in Lawrence County since 1988.
