Loogootee Man Suffers Minor Injuries After Semi Flips And Spills Grain On Highway

Last updated on Monday, November 11, 2013

(DUBOIS CO.) - A Loogootee man escaped serious injury after his vehicle rolled and crashed on State Road 56 in Dubois County.

According to an Indiana State Police report, at 1 p.m. Friday, 60-year-old Robert Lee was traveling east on State Road 56 in a 2006 International semi tractor, pulling a 2006 Mack Trailer. Just west of County Road 325, Lee left the roadway in a curve and struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn and hit a utility pole. The overturned trailer spilled its entire load of grain onto the roadway.

Lee suffered only minor head scratches and refused treatment on scene. Troopers say Lee was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, and that the seat belt may have saved his life due to the semi-tractor being a total loss.

One lane of traffic was open while crews cleaned up the spilled grain.
