LIFE Fantasia Looking For Volunteers To Decorate Christmas Trees

Last updated on Thursday, November 7, 2013

(BEDFORD) - It may not be December yet, but it’s time to start thinking about decorating for the holidays.

LIFE Fantasia is in need of volunteers to decorate Christmas trees, wreaths and centerpieces for the 21st annual auction.

LIFE operates a food pantry and provides assistance with rent and utilities.

Applications are available from LIFE offices in Bedford, 1204 I St., and Mitchell. The deadline is Nov. 22.

The auction will be in the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County (formerly the Girls Club) on Dec. 7. Decorators will trim their trees on Dec. 6.

Laura Bailey, LIFE director of operations, says the move to the Boys & Girls Club, at Brian Lane Way and 19th Street, will provide more space but keep the auction in a convenient location.

More than 70 items were decorated and donated to last year's auction raising $20,768.44. Officials hope to see more decorated items this year.

The auction will feature items made by the art departments of both Bedford North Lawrence and Mitchell High School. There will also be mini-trees decorated by K-3 classes in North Lawrence and Mitchell. The art auction will start at 11 with the main auction to follow at 1 p.m.

Smokin' Jim's Barbecue is also returning to sell barbecue and lunch combos.
