IU Health Hospital To Eliminate 50 Positions By End Of Year

Last updated on Thursday, November 21, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - IU Health Bloomington Hospital will eliminate 50 positions by the end of the year.

IU Health CEO Mark Moore says the reduction to the work force was announced this week and is a move to prepare for a sweeping change in health care which includes implementing some cost saving measures.

Moore says the decision to eliminate even one position on the team of 3,000 individuals was reached only after much discussion and thoughtful analysis. But in order to provide affordable and quality care to patients the elimination of the positions were necessary.

According to the IU Health website, "Indiana University Health includes Indiana's most comprehensive academic health center and is one of the busiest hospital systems in the United States."
