(WESTGATE) - More than a year and a half after an announcement that a Comfort Suites Hotel was going to located near the WestGate at Crane Technology Park, a contract has been awarded for site work.
Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Dailey World reports, AREXCO, Inc., of Spencer, won the contract with a bid of $739,815 for the site work, located at the intersection of U.S. 231S and County Road 800S, near the Battery Innovation Center.
Rick Coopock, of Bynum, Fanyo and Associates says work has started and the contractor has installed erosion control measures before beginning work on the sanitary sewer.
He says the project will develop roads, water, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water quality ponds, lights and grade the western portion of the property adjacent to the BIC site and make it ready for the hotel and other commercial businesses.
The 80-room, three-story Comfort Suites Hotel will be constructed on the 2.9 acre site that was purchased from the Redevelopment Commission in July 2012 for $10.
Estimated project cost when announced was $6.7 million.
