Bloomington Man Arrested After Choking And Slapping Woman

Last updated on Tuesday, November 5, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - A 21-year-old Bloomington man was arrested Saturday after officers were called to two incidents of a domestic fight in the 500 block North Grant Street.

According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Lucas Tate, the first incident happened at 2:49 a.m. when David Atanus got into a verbal agreement that turned physical with a 21-year-old woman. However when police arrived neither would cooperate and no arrests were made at that time.

Then just after 5 p.m. officers were called a second time and learned that during the first incident Atanus had blocked the woman from leaving, grabbed her by the throat and choked her, pushed her down and kicked her in the side of the head and slapped her.

Tate says the woman had picked the man up from a party and the two had been arguing over sleeping arrangements.
