Bloomington Announces Free Parking Downtown Thanksgiving Weekend

Last updated on Wednesday, November 27, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - Thanksgiving Day weekend is Free Day weekend when it comes to on-street and public surface lot parking in Downtown this coming weekend.

On-street and city-owned surface lot parking meters will not be enforced from 10 p.m. on Wednesday through 8 a.m. on Monday as part of the City's "T-Day Weekend is Free Day Weekend" promotion.

A unique set of circumstances converge this week that led to the city promotion.

City and county employees will not be working Friday. Students are, for the most part, out of town, so there is less concern about the warehousing of cars on Downtown streets. Finally, many Downtown merchants are impacted by Friday street closings for the Canopy of Lights ceremony.
