(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant Monday after police found a prescription bottle filled with meth near a school.
34-year-old Adam J. Staggs, of 920 18th St., will be charged with possession of meth and possession of a controlled substance.
According to police, on Nov. 4, the principal of St. Vincent Catholic School found a prescription bottle in the teacher's parking lot with Staggs' name and believed it contained illegal drugs. The principal then called police.
An officer went to the scene and found the bottle next to a black Chevrolet Cavalier. Staggs lives across the street from the school.
Police went to the home, and Staggs told them the car was his and that he would go to the police station the next day to talk to the detective.
On November 5, police went back to Staggs home and arrested him on an unrelated warrant for forgery and for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit. He was taken to the Bedford Police station.
While at the station, Staggs told police the Cavalier was his wife's car and the pill bottle was his. He told police he probably had dropped the bottle while he was drunk, but he denied knowing that there was meth in the bottle.
Staggs is still in jail with a bond set at $25,000 surety or $2,005 cash.
