Two Suffer Minor Injuries In Crash

(MITCHELL) - Two people were injured in a car crash on U.S. 50 West and Watson Merry Road Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 29-year-old William Wigley, of 999 Woodsferry Rd., was traveling west on U.S. 50 West in a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze when he lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadways.

The vehicle slide off the north side of the road and struck the ditch, then traveled west across a yard at 5223 U.S. 50 West and continued west across Watson Merry Road and hit an embankment on the west side of the road.

Wigley complained of right ankle pain and his passenger 25-year-old Crystal Schofield, of 999 Woodsferry Rd., complained of back pain. Both were taken to IU Health Hospital for treatment.

Wigley was cited for having no insurance.

Assisting at the scene were Huron Volunteer Fire Department first responders and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
