Semi Tractor Trailer Blocked State Road 45 For Two Hours Sunday

Last updated on Monday, October 21, 2013

(BLOOMFIELD) - State Road 58 near Dry Branch Road was blocked for a couple of hours Sunday evening after a semi-truck driver tried to turn around but got stuck with the truck criss-crossing the highway blocking both lanes of traffic.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. west of Dry Branch Rd., about a half-mile west of State Road 45.

According to a Greene County Sheriff's Department accident reports, 47-year-old Steven Roberts of DeSoto, Missouri, was operating a 2014 Peterbilt 579 towing a hopper trailer eastbound on SR 58.

Roberts passed his exit at Dry Branch Rd. then pulled off to a gravel area on the south side of the highway and attempted to turn his truck and trailer around.

Roberts told police as the vehicle turned, the hopper trailer dug into the highway due to a steep incline and the driver stopped the vehicle due to the damage done to the trailer.

According to the report, no one was injured.

The semi-tractor trailer blocked both lanes of traffic for two hours until Blands Towing was able to remove the rig from the roadway and get it safely towed out of traffic.

The Jackson Township Fire Department also responded and assisted on the scene.
