Coroner Rules No Foul Play In IU Student's Death

(BLOOMINGTON) - Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer says no foul play is suspected in the death of an Indiana University student.

18-year-old Abigail Bott, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois was found dead in her dorm room at McNutt Quad around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Bott would have graduated from IU in 2017.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning.

Meyer says the preliminary cause of death was undetermined Monday pending a toxicology results. It will take four to six weeks until those results are known.

Meyers says there was no evidence of trauma and because of that, officials don't believe foul play played a factor in her death.

Indiana University students mourned the loss of the student, according to an Indiana University tweet: "Our campus community is deeply saddened by the loss of a student, Abigail Bott. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends."

Indiana University officials say any student affected by the loss is encouraged to call contact Counseling & Psychological Services for help and support at 812-855-5711.
