Mitchell Man Arrested After Police Find Him Passed Out In Vehicle

(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police officers were called to the area of a Second and O streets early this morning after a reports of a suspicious vehicle with a man inside.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley when police arrived they found 22-year-old Michael Poveda, of Mitchell, passed out in the vehicle.

"Officers got him awake and when he opened the vehicle door there was the burnt smell of marijuana," Parsley says. "Officers arrested him for public intoxication and while doing an inventory of the vehicle discovered numerous other drugs including a white substance that tested positive for meth."

Officers found Lortabs which Poveda did not have a prescription for; more marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Poveda was charged with public intoxication, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana over 30 grams, possession of marijuana over 30 grams with the intent to deal, possession of meth.
