Last updated on Friday, October 25, 2013

(MITCHELL) - A Loogootee woman suffered back and neck pain after a rear end collision on U.S. 50 West Thursday afternoon.

Police were responded to the crash after a 911 call at 2:49 p.m.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 46-year-old Tamara Dickens, of Loogootee, was traveling northeast on U.S. 50 West and was slowing down to stop for the stop light U.S. 50 and Ind. 37 when her 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was hit in the rear by a 2001 Toyota Tundra driven by 19-year-old Jason Niewedde, of Lawrenceburg.

Niewedde told police that Dicken's vehicle had fish-tailed in front of him and that he was following too closely and could not get stopped in time to avoid the collision.

Niewedde was not injured, but Dicken complained of neck and back pain and was taken by an IU Health Hospital ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

Assisting at the scene were Marion Volunteer Fire Department first responders and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
