Jackson County Police Need Assistance In Copper Thefts

Last updated on Wednesday, October 30, 2013

(SEYMOUR) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in reporting any unusual activity in farm fields in the wake of several thefts of copper wiring from irrigation systems in the north central part of the county.

Those thefts cost local farmers thousands of dollars in damage, Jackson County Sheriff's Detective Robert Lucas said Monday.

The thieves have been driving onto farm grounds, possibly on all-terrain vehicles, during the evening hours and cutting the copper wire, rolling it up and carrying it away.
