(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to chip seal roughly 23 miles of State Road 67 in Knox and Greene counties this week, weather permitting.
Flag personnel will be present to direct motorists around moving worksites.
INDOT maintenance crews will begin a pavement sealing process on S.R. 67 from just south of S.R. 54 in Switz City to the north city limits of Bicknell. The work should be completed by November 8.
The fog seal is a light application of asphalt material that seals loose stone and aid with dust problems. It also makes the road black, which makes pavement markings more visible.
INDOT warns drivers should exercise extreme caution during the construction of these projects. Loose stone will be present on the roadway during the initial cure of the asphalt and can damage windshields and paint on vehicles following too closely.
INDOT recommends that when travelling on a sealed road, to slow down and allow additional space between vehicles.
