The Haunted Village at Spring Mill State Park
When: Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Cost: Park admission applies.
Details: The Pioneer Village will be transformed into a frightening place for visitors to explore. Be prepared to be scared as your group travels through the dark and haunted streets. (May be too frightening for young children, designed for older children.)
Come early and build the scarecrows and carve pumpkins for the Haunted Village. Note, the Pioneer Village, Nature Center and Twin Caves will close at 4 p.m. Saturday to prepare for the "Haunted Village." For more information, email springmillstatepark@dnr.in.gov or call (812) 849-3534.
Trunk or Treat Safe Night
When: Oct. 26, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Springville Community Park Circle, hosted by Cub Scout Pack 343
Details: Join us for a spooktacular time full of Halloween goodies. Enjoy walking around the park while the kids collect their Halloween treats.
We are looking for volunteers to come and use their vehicle trunks or tailgates and provide candy or small treats to our trunk or treaters. If you are interested in participating, contact Kayla Fish (812) 508-1085.
Oolitic Haunted School
When: Oct. 18-19, 25-26, 7-11 p.m.
Where: Oolitic Community Center on Hoosier Avenue (old high school).
Details: Three floors of frights and fits. Proceeds benefit the Oolitic Festival Committee
Admission: $5, hayrides $2.
'Huron Haunts' historic walk, haunted talk and light supper
Where: Huron firehouse on Railroad Street in Huron
When: Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
Details: Hear about an 1861 troop train crash, the murder of a beloved O&M railroad stationmaster, the gruesome death of a lawbreaker and more as Huron's dead tell their tales. This event includes a historic walk with costumed re-enactors; a supper of soups and other items, prepared by the 90-year-old Huron WTK Club; and a haunted talk by Believe Paranormal about investigations at Huron sites.
Tickets: Adults $20, $15 for seniors 65 and older and $10 for children 12 and younger. Purchase from the Lawrence County Museum.
Ghostly Gathering at Paynetown SRA
Where: Bloomington on Ind. 446
When: Oct. 25-26
Details: Paint a mini pumpkin Oct. 25 from 3-5 p.m. All ages costume contest Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. followed by trick-or-treating at the campground from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Visitors can also check out the campsite decorations and vote for their favorite.
Admission: Gate fee applies
One Stop Safe Trick or Treating
Where: Hatfield Elementary School in Mitchell
When: Oct. 31, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Details: Sponsored by Mitchell-Grissom Kiwanis Club, volunteers pass out candy to children up to age 12.
Trunk or Treat
Where: Orleans Christian Church in the parking lot. If rain in the Unity Hall
When: Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Orleans Kiwanis Club Spook Walk
Where: Orleans Historic Congress Square
When: Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m.
Details: games, giveaways for those in costumes, parade and more.
Trunk or Treats
Where: First United Methodist Church
When: Oct. 31
Where: 14th and K church parking lot
Details: Children can trick or treat safely and also enjoy bounce houses, free cider and cookies, and a door prize.
Trunk or Treat At Mitchell Churches
Where: First Baptist Church at the corner of 7th and Frank streets
Nazarene at the corner of Third Street and Grissom Ave. and Grace Baptist at 303 West Hancock Ave.
When: Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
