(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are investigating an assault of a 49-year-old woman by a man she knew.
The assault was reported after officers received a call at 10:20 a.m. Saturday reporting a woman was on the ground in the 100 block of East Kirkwood Avenue.
When police arrived the Bloomington woman was taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital after reporting she was assaulted.
According to Bloomington Police Lt. John Kovach, the woman claims she walking with a 43-year-old man she knew, when the man grabbed her by the arms and pushed her to the ground.
The woman says she then kicked the man and he let her go and she ran.
Kovach says the woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, says the assault took place in an alley somewhere near the Monroe County Public Library.
