(BLOOMINGTON) - 24-year-old Christopher Polston, of Bloomington was arrested after he kicked out the rear passenger-side window of a police car Saturday.

Police says Polston was arrested following a confrontation during which he struck at another man with a knife.

According to Sgt. Lucas Tate, officers were called to the 400 block of East Eighth Street at 8:45 p.m. after a 34-year-old man was found stumbling around an apartment building.

The man told police he was inside his apartment when he saw a man outside banging on doors and windows.

When the man went outside to confront the man, Polston allegedly pulled out a small fixed blade knife and tried to stab the man.

Tate says Polston cut the victim's shirt which caused a small abrasion.

Polston then took off running and was found by IU Police officers a short distance from the incident.

Once the victim identified Polston, as the man who had stabbed him, he became irate and kicked at the rear passenger window of the police car, shattering it. A struggle ensured between Polston and police and Polston attempted to kick and bite officers.

Polston, who also goes by the name Chris Owens, was charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon, both felonies. He was also charged with misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, criminal mischief, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
