Bedford Man Who Fled From Court Arrested

Last updated on Monday, October 21, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Monroe County Police arrested 33-year-old Ty York, Saturday night.

York had fled from Lawrence County Superior Court after he learned earlier in the month that he would be returning to jail.

Lawrence County Chief Deputy Mike Branham says it is unclear why Monroe County officers stopped or where York was arrested.

"We received a call reporting that they had arrested Mr. York and one of our officers meet them at the county line to transport Mr. York back to Lawrence County," Branham says.

Bedford Police arrested York on May 1 on charges of possession of meth, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and resisting police by fleeing. He is now facing charges of failure to comply with terms of his release.

York was in court October 9, for a pre-trial conference when York, who was out on bond, learned he had violated the agreements of his bond and was ordered back to jail.

After hearing that, York fled the courtroom.

Officers checked the area but were unable to find York. Judge Michael Robbins issued a warrant to revoke York's bond.
