(BLOOMINGTON) - A 47-year-old woman thwarted a robbery attempt by punching a man in the face Friday afternoon on a gravel road near the B-Line Trail.

Bloomington police were called to a report of an attempted robbery near the 200 block of West Grimes Lane, just east of the B-Line Trail, at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

The woman told police two men approached her asking for cigarettes.

One man tried to take her backpack and that is when the woman punched the man in the face and then ran away.

Bloomington Police Sgt. Ian Lovan says one man was wearing an orange shirt with a white number 12 on it and camouflage shorts. He had a long beard and was of medium build and about 5-foot-9 and between 50 to 60 years old.

The other man was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans and had short brown hair and a long-beard. The man was about 50-years-old.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Bloomington Police.
