Last updated on Monday, September 23, 2013

(HURON) - Lawrence County Coroner Rob Herr has identified the victim of a mobile home fire Saturday morning near Huron as 55-year-old Danny Hamilton.

Herr released the victim's name this morning. Danny Hamilton was killed in a mobile home fire at 2215 Ind. 60 West near Beaver Creek Road.

Herr was able to make a positive identification using dental and medical records.

He stressed that his office, the Indiana state fire marshal and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department are continuing the investigation.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says foul play is not suspected, but the case is still under investigation and they are awaiting the final autopsy report.

"Mrs. Hamilton told police her husband had gone outside and she believed he was still outside when the fire started," Craig added. "But the case is still under investigation."

Huron Fire Chief Mark Jones says the blaze started in an outside shed, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. By the time firefighters arrived the fire has spread to the mobile home.

According to the Lawrence County Police log 29-year-old Sonya Hamilton, who lived in the home with her husband, Danny, reported the blaze at 4:25 a.m. Saturday. She told dispatchers she did not know if her husband was in their home. Sonya Hamilton was not injured.
