(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana Conservation Officers arrested a Heltonville man Thursday evening and another faces pending charges after both fled while riding ATVs in Monroe County.

According to Indiana Conservation Officer Jim Schreck, 45-year-old Mickel Ficus and 33-year-old Mitchell Prince both are facing charges of resisting law enforcement and Prince faces an additional charge of operating an ATV under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

Schreck says, shortly after 7:30 p.m., the pair failed to yield to a conservation officer's emergency lights while traveling on Chapel Hill Road in Monroe County.

The two fled at a high rate of speed. Officers located Prince, who had pulled off farther down the road. Police says he was intoxicated. Ficus, who had hiding in the woods was found a short time later and jailed on a warrant for a parole violation.

Indiana Conservation Officers wish to remind ATV riders that all traffic regulations apply to ATVs when on the roadways.

Monroe County roads are closed to ATVs, however a complete listing of counties open to ATV traffic is available at www.in.gov/dnr/outdoor/4431.htm.
