Last updated on Tuesday, September 3, 2013

(MITCHELL) - A 16-year-old teen from West Baden Springs was arrested Saturday after officers clocked the vehicle he was driving at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour as he drove through Orleans in construction zones.

According to Orange County Sheriff Richard Dixon, officers attempted to stop the teen Saturday morning in Paoli but he fled from police.

The pursuit continued north on Ind. 37.

The driver then led officers through the construction zone as he headed north on Ind. 37 around 7:30 a.m.

Dixon says officers then called the Lawrence County Police Department for assistance.

The teen was stopped after Lawrence County police officers deployed stop sticks near the Sprint gas station in Mitchell.

The teen was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center in Brownstown.

The LCPD log reports the teen was originally pulled over regarding auto theft. Police are still looking into the details of that investigation.

Dixon says the incident is still under investigation and the teen will have an initial hearing sometime this week. As of this morning there was no word on potential charges.
