Photographer Honors Linton Officers

Last updated on Monday, September 30, 2013

(LINTON) - With the future of a couple positions at the Linton Police Department uncertain due to possible budget cuts, a local artist used her creativity to show her appreciation to the officers who protect and serve our communities daily.

Greene County Daily World reports Halea Franklin reports, Chelsi Jerrels, of C.C. Portrait & Design, recently read a book inspired by the 100 most influential moments in photography.

"A photographer in the book had an article in there about stepping out as an artist and shaping events through your photographs. Capturing moments, people, things, events that will inspire people," Jerrels explained. "So in thinking about what that photographer said, I began to think about, what moves me as an artist? What am I passionate about? And my first answer was law enforcement."

Jerrels works as a dispatcher at the Greene County Sheriff's Department and has several family members who have or currently are working in the law enforcement field.

"People see them as the righters of all wrongs. This project was to show people while yes, their job is to mediate, resolve and maintain peace in the community, deep down, they are just people," she explained. "They have families. They have worries. They are amazing human beings whose job is to put everyone else before themselves. This project was to show my appreciation of everything these men and women do every day they begin a watch."

Officers in the photograph represent several Greene County law enforcement agencies including the Linton Police Department, Bloomfield Police Department, Worthington Police Department, Jasonville Police Department, Greene County Sheriff's Department, and Indiana State Police. Officers in the photograph include: Kenny Tharp, AJ Bowers, Adam Davis, Jordan Gooding, Jimmy Carpenter, Marvin Holt, Harvey Holt, Davis Aerne, Paul Clark, Tom Jerrels and K9 Charley, Jeff Brown, Richard Klun, Ryan Bredeweg, JR Blazier, Jeremy Inman, Jim Gadberry, Leon Dunigan, George Dallaire, and Bobby Pierce.

Copies of the 8 inch by 12 inch photograph can be purchased for $22. To make arrangements to order a copy, contact Jerrels on her Facebook page, C.C. Portrait & Design.
