Plan Commission To Hold Public Hearing On Requested Zoning For Business

Last updated on Wednesday, September 4, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Mandy Hazen might still be able to open a business at 827 R Street but the zoning will have to be changed before that happens.

Hazen is buying property on contract from Fred Herthel. The property includes a home at the intersection of R Street and John Williams Boulevard where Hazen plans to open Pinky's Garage Kustom Klothing and Kulture.

The property is zoned for residential use. Last month, Hazen asked the Bedford Board of Zoning Appeals to approve a variance from the zoning code so she can operate the vintage resale shop there.

That request was denied.

Herthel asked the Bedford Plan Commission to consider changing the zoning. After some debate, commission members agreed to move the request on to a public hearing. That hearing will be scheduled for a future plan commission meeting.
