Owensburg Man Faces Charges After Horses Continually Got Loose

Last updated on Thursday, September 12, 2013

(BLOOMFIELD) - An Owensburg man will appear in court Friday after being accused of allowing his horses to run loose.

44-year-old Ronald Hughes is facing a charge of letting his animals run at large, a Class B misdemeanor.

Hughes was charged with the crime in August when a woman called police reporting Hughes' horses were on her property again and causing damage.

The woman lives near Hughes on East Mineral-Koleen Road and the horses escaping has been an on-going problem for seven years.

When police went to Hughes home they discovered his fencing was in such disarray and poorly maintained it would not hold the horses. Hughes told police he knew the fencing was bad and would fix it.
