One Killed In Mobile Home Fire On Ind. 60 West

(MITCHELL) - One person was killed in a fire at a mobile home Saturday morning at 2215 Ind. 60 West near Beaver Creek Road.

The fire destroyed the home and the person's identity has not been released.

Huron Fire Chief Mark Jones says the blaze started in an outside shed, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. By the time firefighters arrived the fire has spread to the mobile home.

According to the Lawrence County Police log 29-year-old Sonya Hamilton, who lived in the home with her husband, Danny Hamilton, reported the blaze at 4:25 a.m. Saturday. She told dispatchers she did not know if her husband was in their home. Sonya Hamilton was not injured.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. But the home was destroyed.
Other agencies assisting at the scene were Marion Township VFD, Indiana State Police, Lawrence County Police Department, Coroner Rob Herr, Indiana State Fire Marshal and Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital ambulance.
