(LOOGOOTEE) - One person was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on U-S 50 in Daviess County just west of Loogootee.
The accident happened just after 5 p.m., when the moped operated by Austin Erwin of Loogootee was turning from County Road 1250 East onto U-S 50.
Erwin failed to yield the right of way while turning onto U.S. 50, and was struck by a westbound full-size pickup truck.
The driver of the truck has not been identified. Erwin was pronounced dead on the scene by the Daviess County Coroner.
No one else was injured in the accident.
Daviess County Sheriff's deputies led in the investigation, assisted by the Martin County Sheriff's office, Loogootee Police, and the Cannelburg and Montgomery Fire Departments.
