(SALEM) - Old Settlers’ Days is this weekend at the John Hay Center.
There will be moonshiners and a host of other characters including Abe Lincoln, James Whitcomb Riley, John Williams, Oliver Perry Morton and Mrs. Stonewall Jackson who will play a role in Old Settlers' Days. There will be games and crafts for children, local artists and vendors. The Rotary Club will provide their famous parched corn and apple cider.
The Stevens Museum, the Depot and the agricultural barn near The Depot will all be open. The barn offers displays of items important to Washington County's agricultural heritage. The Washington County Artisans and Farmers will offer handmade crafts and homegrown produce in the parking lot at the museum.
There will be entertainment at two different locations, a stage at The Depot and a stage near the village green. The Corydon Dulcimer Society will play at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Guitars, Strings, and Things will present The Short Notice band Saturday at 5 p.m. The Bradie Shrum Chime Choir will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday.
There will also be an antique tractor show and pull at the fairgrounds on Saturday.
The prelude to OSD is Friday Night on the Square, which will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. around the square in downtown Salem. The event is sponsored by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
