(BLOOMINGTON) - The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Doug Carter, has announced the promotion of Sergeant Jeff “Jay” Yoho to the rank of First Sergeant to serve as the Bloomington District Assistant Commander.
F/Sgt Yoho will primarily serve as the District Administrator, where he will advise and assist the District Commander and maintain District facilities and resources. He will also supervise and evaluate police and civilian employees.
A native of Solsberry, Yoho is a 1983 graduate of Eastern Greene High School. In 1985, F/Sgt Yoho graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement. In 1987 Yoho was hired by the Indiana State Excise Police and worked there until he was hired in 1989 as a Road Deputy for the Greene County Sheriff's Department for then Sheriff Gene Gastineau. F/Sgt Yoho was then accepted into the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and graduated in November of 1991. Yoho worked his first assignment as a Trooper at the Evansville Post until 1992 when he requested a transfer to the Bloomington Post where he primarily worked Owen and Greene Counties.
F/Sgt Yoho has been a firearms instructor since 1992 and had served with the High Performance Vehicle Section for five years where he patrolled in Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros. F/Sgt Yoho had served as a District Squad Sergeant over the last seven years.
F/Sgt Yoho, his wife Sandi and their son Trevor reside in rural Greene County. Their oldest son, J.T. is enrolled at Wright State University in Dayton Ohio, where he plays on the Men's Basketball Team and studies Business.
