(INDIANAPOLIS) - Former Indiana University basketball player Devan Dumes was found not guilty of all charges in his attempted murder trial Tuesday.

The 25-year-old's defense attorney opened the trial Monday saying his client was defending himself when he shot a drug dealer who wanted him to deliver cocaine in order to pay off a $225 debt.

Dumes was facing charges for shooting Keith Jones in the neck in January. Jones spent about two weeks in intensive care. Jones testified Monday that Dumes shot him while stealing his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro.

Dumes played two seasons at Indiana, leading the team in scoring as a junior for the 2008-09 season with 12 points a game. He played high school basketball at Decatur Central High School.

In a separate case, Dumes still faces charges of possessing illegal drugs and an unlicensed gun.
