Last updated on Monday, September 23, 2013

(MITCHELL) - Lawrence County Coroner Rob Herr says progress is being made in determining the positive identification of a person who died in a mobile home fire Saturday morning near Huron.

Herr says an autopsy was performed Sunday and they do have a tentative identification.

Officials will use dental and medical records to make a positive identification.

Sonja Hamilton lived in the mobile home, at 2215 Ind. 60 West near Beaver Creek Road, with her husband, Danny Hamilton reported the fire at 4:25 a.m. Saturday. She told police she did not know whether her husband was in their home.

Sonya Hamilton escaped the blaze unharmed.

Huron Fire Chief Mark Jones says the blaze started in an outside shed, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. By the time firefighters arrived the fire has spread to the mobile home.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. But the home was destroyed.

Other agencies assisting at the scene were Marion Township VFD, Indiana State Police, Lawrence County Police Department, Coroner Rob Herr, Indiana State Fire Marshal and Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital ambulance.
