American Red Cross Blood Drive At Bloomington Farmers' Market Today

Last updated on Saturday, September 7, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington and the local Red Cross invite community members to “roll up their sleeves” and give the gift of life by donating blood during the Farmers’ Market today.

The blood drive will take place in Council Chambers of City Hall from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Blood donations typically decrease during the summer months when people spend more time doing recreational and seasonal activities. Blood donors may travel, start new routines, or simply overlook donating blood. While donations may drop, the need for blood remains the same, with Type O blood being in highest demand.

The Farmers' Market is a long standing community tradition and a great time to help area hospitals receive the blood supplies they need. No appointment is needed to donate during the Sept. 7 blood drive. For more information call City of Bloomington Health Projects Manager Nancy Woolery at 349-3851.
