(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington family is focused on their son's recovery after someone attacked 21-year-old Carson Otter over the weekend.

Otter is a graduate of Bloomington High School South, and now a senior at Ole Miss, studying real estate finance.

He was in Austin, Texas for the football game against the University of Texas this past weekend.

Austin police say someone punched him, he fell to the ground hitting his head on the sidewalk, and suffered a serious brain injury around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Austin police say Carson exchanged words with a man in a car, and the man got out and punched him. Police are still working to find the suspect.

Carson's family says there were two other men at the scene that night who rushed to help.

These two gentlemen rushed immediately to Carson's aid potentially saving his life.

His father Greg Otter is not focusing on the tragedy of what happened, but instead - they want to focus on moving forward.

"The phone call I received early Saturday morning was the second worst phone call any parent could ever receive," he said.

Otter said his son underwent brain surgery, and has since improved to serious condition, since Saturday.

Otter says his son can get up and out of bed and has begun some physical therapy.

Now, friends of Carson's have created a Facebook picture, reading "Prayers for Carson Otter."
