Bedford Man Arrested After Police Find Guns Under His Bed

Last updated on Tuesday, September 10, 2013

(BEDFORD) - 42-year-old Kenneth Beavers, of 1805 O Street, was arrested Monday on a warrant for possession of two firearms after he was previously convicted of a domestic battery charge.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parlsey, officers were called to a domestic fight Monday after Beavers and a woman got into a fight over food stamps.

When officers arrived at the home they found Beavers was leaving and officers detained him when they discovered he was wanted on a warrant.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the warrant was issued after an August 1st incident when officers discovered weapons in the home on O Street during another domestic fight.

During that fight officers had asked Beavers if there were any weapons in the home and Beavers told them there were two rifles under his bed.

Beavers told police he knew he couldn't have the guns because he was a convicted felon. He was convicted of domestic battery in Floyd County.

Officers found a Marlin rifle and a Western Field rifle under the bed.

Beavers was still in jail this morning. His bail is set at $7,500 surety
