(LOOGOOTEE) - A Bedford man was injured in an accident in Loogootee Wednesday afternoon.
A semi accident closed U.S. 50, just west of Loogootee around 3:30 p.m.
Daviess County Police were dispatched to a report of a semi tractor-trailer had overturned and was smoking on U.S. 50 near County Road 1250 East. When deputies arrived they found that the power lines were down and REMC was contacted.
U.S. 50 was closed until 6:30 p.m.
An accident report was not available this morning.
A second accident happened as traffic was being detoured around the first crash site.
According to police the accident happened on County Road 75 North near the intersection of County Road 1250 East.
Due to dust raised by the heavy traffic being detoured around the first accident, 42-year-old Curtis Staley, of Bedford, did not see 46-year-old David Linton, of Louisville, stop his 2007 Mack truck. Staley told police he could not get his 2007 Ford TSS stopped and hit the rear of the Mack truck.
Staley suffered hand injuries and was treated at the scene by Southwest Medical EMS.
