(SEYMOUR) - Jackson County man faces preliminary charges of intimidation and pointing a gun after an incident Monday afternoon in the 600 block of West Oak Street in Seymour.
Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott told the Seymour Tribune that 30-year-old Areli Rivera, of Seymour, was arrested after a woman accused him of pointing a weapon at her as she approached her vehicle. Abbott says her 18-year-old daughter was inside the car.
The chief added that Rivera pointed the gun at the women and the threat was that she was going to get shot if she didn't leave, so she left.
The paper reports the car Rivera had been driving was found a short time later. Rivera was arrested about a block away from the car in the 500 block of West Oak Street.
Abbott says two other people in the vehicle, including the woman's daughter, were interviewed but not arrested.
Rivera was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown Monday evening and was being held without bond pending his initial hearing. That hearing had not been set as of Tuesday afternoon.
Abbott says the weapon used in that incident has not been located.
