18-Year-Old Loogootee Man Dies In Crash

(LOOGOOTEE) - An 18-year-old Loogootee man died after crashing his vehicle Sunday.

According to a press release from the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, at 9:03 a.m. Sunday, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department received several 911 calls reporting an accident on County Road 1200 East also known as St. Mary's Road near West Boggs Lake.

Callers reported there were two people injured and one was trapped inside the vehicle.

According to police, the vehicle was passing another vehicle on the left when it hydroplaned on the wet pavement causing the driver to lose control.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway and hit a tree head-on.

Daviess County Coroner Laura Petty pronounced the driver, 18-year-old Brandon Kyle Wagler of Loogootee, deceased at the scene of massive chest injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, 12-year-old Jacob Wagler, was taken to Daviess Community Hospital by personal vehicle, was treated and released with cuts and bruises.
