Venison Workshops Coming In September

(UNDATED) - A venison workshop series in September will teach deer skinning, butchering and preparation.

Participants can taste the venison, which will be prepared in a variety of ways. The workshops will also feature food safety and handling procedures and an update on deer health issues.

The DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife and Purdue Cooperative Extension Service are sponsoring the workshops. Adult admission is $20; children 17 and younger are free. The workshops at Bass Pro Shops on Sept. 13 and at the Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience on Sept. 21 are free to all.

Sept. 10 -- Crawford County Fairgrounds, Marengo, 6-9 p.m., (812) 338-2352.

Sept. 12 -- Wayne County Fairgrounds, Richmond, 6-9 p.m., (765) 973-9281.

Sept. 13 -- Bass Pro Shops, Clarksville, 6-9 p.m., (812) 218-5500.

Sept. 21 -- Fort Harrison State Park, Indianapolis, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.-- No registration required; details are online at HoosierOutdoorExperience.IN.gov.
