The Waffle House In Bloomington Is Closing

Last updated on Friday, August 30, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington restaurant that has served thousands of Indiana University students and local residents for nearly 50 years is closing to make way for a new development.

The Waffle House is scheduled to shut its doors Wednesday. Property owners Bud and Myra Powell are preparing to retire, and a new building housing a bank and other commercial space on its lower floors and residential units on upper floors will be constructed.

Restaurant manager Larry Prince tells The Herald-Times that many of the restaurant's longtime employees already have found other work. But he says it will be "business as usual" until the restaurant closes.
