(UNDATED) - Indiana State Police reminds all drivers to watch for children in the early days of kids returning to school.
Law enforcement officials request that motorists watch for children boarding buses and on foot in school zones.
Police will have a zero-tolerance policy for both speeding in school zones, or for disregarding a school bus stop arm.
Parents are also encouraged to remind children of the danger zone around school buses. Most school bus related injuries happen within ten feet of the bus itself.
Parents should remind children to wait for the bus in a safe area away from traffic; to stay away from horseplay at the bus stop; and wait for the bus to come to a stop before boarding.
Finally, children are reminded to always cross in front of the bus, so the bus driver can see them.
