Stalker Apartment Complex Project On Schedule

(BEDFORD) - Bedford Plan Director Dan Kirk says the Stalker Apartment Complex project is on schedule.

The $3.5 million project, spearheaded by Hoosier Uplands, will turn the historic school building into an apartment building.

Kirk says everything is on track and that crews were hanging drywall and installing flooring.

He says work could be finished in September or October.

Hoosier Uplands, who purchased the building, is restoring it and creating an apartment complex that will provide affordable housing.

Bedford City Council members are supporting the Old Stalker School District Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.

Carla Naum of Milestone Ventures Inc. helped Hoosier Uplands to secure grants for the project says crews are using everything that is salvageable to keep it as historical as possible.

Hoosier Uplands plans to create 21, 2-bedroom apartments. the apartments will be energy-star certified. Rent will range from $235 to $396 a month, based on income.
