Shawn McBride Appointed To Head Greene County DCS

(BLOOMFIELD) - A Greene County native has been appointed to head the Bloomfield office of the Indiana Department of Child Services.

The Greene County Daily World reports, Shawn McBride has been appointed local director of the Greene County office of DCS.

In his new role, Shawn will set goals and objectives for child welfare management, helping to ensure children are protected from abuse or neglect. In addition, he will oversee a team of 11, including family case managers, supervisors and clerical staff. He will also handle general office operations.

"We're pleased to bring Shawn onto our Greene County team," said Jane Bisbee, DCS' Deputy Director of Field Operations. "With his family case manager background and his supervisory experience, he is well suited for helping families in his county."

Shawn was born and grew up in Greene County. He began working for Indiana State Government in 1998 when he accepted a correctional officer position at the Putnamville Correctional facility in Greencastle. He later transferred to the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle to work as a counselor and then case work manager. In 2007 he joined DCS as a family case manager at the Greene County office. He was promoted to supervisor in 2010 and has worked in the Owen County DCS office until his appointment as Greene County director. Shawn holds a B.S. in criminology from Indiana State University.

He began his new duties July 29.
