(SEYMOUR) - Jackson County Commissioners recently gave their approval for the city of Seymour to pursue creating a new tax-increment financing district for a proposed 200-unit apartment complex just north of the city.

The Seymour Tribune reports the Seymour Redevelopment Commission Wednesday approved an economic development district for the project. The Plan Commission will gave their approval on Thursday night and the Seymour City Council will discuss it during its meeting Monday.

Property owners plan to develop the property for housing the increasing number of professionals moving to the city as part of the Cummins expansion.

Developers say they want to build a high-end apartment complex similar to "The Cole" in Columbus. The remaining property will be divided up and homes in the $200,000 range will be built.
