Record Travel Expected Over Labor Day Weekend/Operation Pullover Continues

Last updated on Friday, August 30, 2013

(UNDATED) - The number of Americans traveling over the upcoming Labor Day weekend could reach a five-year high.

AAA spokesperson Heather Hunter says just over 34 million people will go on a trip that takes them 50 miles or more from home over the long holiday weekend.

Hunter says the recent decline in gas prices is one reason more people may be traveling over the Labor Day weekend.

Meanwhile, Indiana's Operation Pullover Blitz continues through September 2nd.

Indiana State Police are conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols targeting impaired and dangerous drivers through the Labor Day weekend.
