Last updated on Wednesday, August 28, 2013

(ODON) - An Odon man was seriously hurt Friday night after he was hit by a vehicle while walking with a group of people on County Road 1200 North.

According to Daviess County deputies, 49-year-old Delbert Gingerich was walking west on County Road 1200 North about an eighth of a mile east of County Road 900 East around 9 p.m. and was the last in the group of people. Gingerich was wearing dark clothing on the dark unlighted roadway.

20-year-old Gary Raber, of Montgomery, was traveling west in a Ford F-150 and didn't see Gingerich. Police say Raber was traveling at around 45 miles per hour when he hit Gingerich.

Gingerich suffered multiple fracture and dislocations. He was taken by Southwest Ambulance to the Daviess Community Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment.
