Michael's House Renamed Garden Villa Special Needs Pavilion

Last updated on Wednesday, August 28, 2013

(BEDFORD) - Garden Villa is announcing the new name of the current facility known as Michael’s House to the Garden Villa Special Needs Pavilion.

The Special Needs Pavilion specializes in patients of every age with developmental disabilities.

Originally formed as Michael's House in 1969, the Special Needs Pavilion began with its first patient, a young boy by the name of Michael, who was in an accident and suffered from a traumatic brain injury. Michael is still a current patient and as he has grown, so has the facility, becoming the Special Needs Pavilion.

"We serve patients of all ages and special needs at Michael's House," said Lee Marchant, owner of Garden Villa. "Along with our patients we have grown our services and capabilities into what is now the Special Needs Pavilion."

The Special Needs Pavilion provides a safe and stable home for its patients and provides regular physician visits along with physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapy.

Other services offered are tracheostomy, colostomy, ileostomy and gastrostomy care, enteral feeding, skilled nursing services, developmental assessments and remediation and respite care.

The Special Needs Pavilion also provides daily activity programs, planned community outings, behavior management, community sheltered workshops and public schooling at Englewood School for patients 5- to 22-years of age.

The Special Needs Pavilion maintains its commitment to be unlike any other acute care center in Indiana, providing care for its residents with severe physical and mental disabilities.
